WR #14

Things have been crazy! Mom and Dad’s house is under contract, they’re under contract on a new house in Fairhope, we have some interest from someone about buying the building, and we’re re-vamping a bunch of stuff with Mapped Out Money. So I’ve just been sketching a bit while I brush my teeth at night. I really want to stay consistent about doing something small every day and keeping up my weekly reviews, but they will be paired down a bit for the next little while.

Slow progress is still progress. :)

Last week’s focus

Consistent small steps.

Helpful inputs/ resources from the week

  • Discovered the hymn “This is My Father’s World” - I just like how it reminds me that everything good and beautiful and true is from God. I’m thankful that God is the ultimate artist!

SKETCHBOOK REVIEW

May 2024 (multi-day)

What question did I ask my sketchbook with this spread?

What can I make if I work for a few seconds each night while I’m brushing my teeth?

How do I feel about it overall?

I’m just proud that I’m making something. We’re in a wild season, and I honestly just feel worn out. So it feels like a big win to just make a few marks every day.

What am I curious about?

How will my skills evolve if I just keep doing what I’m doing until life calms down a bit. How can I improve my bird eyes??? I feel like they look weird a lot of the time.

What do I want to carry forward?

Consistency and continuing to play around with materials to learn how I like to mix stuff.

FINAL WRAP UP

What has God taught me this week about glorifying Him through my art?

Small acts of faithful discipline matter. That’s what will help me grow spiritually, and it’s what will help me grow in my art practice as well.

What am I excited about/ what’s my plan for next week? Any changes to initial 2024 planning?

Just keep chugging along! I’ll re-assess once Mom and Dad are settled and we get moved.
